Description of tDCS brain stimulation
Transcranial direct current stimulation of the brain with direct current in the range of several milliamps is a new technique of non-invasive brain stimulation. The tDCS technique is used to improve and stimulate patients suffering from various neurological diseases.
Scientific medical literature believes that treatments lasting a dozen or so minutes with an intensity of 1 to 2 mA are completely safe for the patient's health.
Research on the tDCS technology is conducted mainly in the area of the motor cortex. They showed that a small current with a constant characteristic, after reaching the motor cortex, causes excitatory changes. The nature of these changes depends primarily on the polarity of the electrodes. Two polarities (or polarity) of the electrodes were determined.
Anodic polarization increases the level of excitation, while cathodic polarization reduces the level of excitation of the cerebral cortex with direct current. The effects of tDCS therapy result from changes in the potential of nerve cell membranes.
The tDCS stimulation method is defined in the scientific literature as: transcranial direct current stimulation, brain polarization and as neurorehabilitation.
In a classic zapper, the current applied to the hand or foot electrodes is alternating, half-way (positive halves). The frequency of this current can be constant (i.e. the classic Hulda Clark 30 kHz), or it can be changed (as in our product Zapper Armand Hulda Clark model 01).
However, with the Zapper Armand tDCS device, the current flowing only through the skull is a direct current, with a small current range: 1-2 mA.
Application of tDCS technology
Stimulation with direct current of the brain tDCS is currently considered a non-invasive method, i.e. safe for the proper functioning of the human body and giving excellent therapeutic effects.
Security of the tDCS method
So far, there is no evidence that stimulation of the brain based on the delivery of current according to the tDCS method is harmful, in a current range not greater than or equal to 4 mA for a duration of not more than 40 minutes. It should be noted, however, that during the administration of a current stimulus, some people may experience an atypical perception of this stimulus in the form of e.g. tingling, reddening of the skin, tingling, itching, dizziness, headache, symptoms of anxiety.

Zapper Armand tDCS is an analog device, thanks to which it is possible to PRECISE current administration during the procedure, without causing discomfort to the patient. In other digital devices, from other companies, the current is supplied in jumps, which may cause an unpleasant feeling in the form of sudden, severe pain, discouraging the patient from the procedure.
Pacemaker, metal implants in the brain, pregnancy, epilepsy, malaise after trying tDCS, using the method for young children, head injuries, concussion, abrasions on the head, scratches and wounds.
Side effects: possible reddening of the skin at the electrode site.
A strong burning sensation at the electrode site indicates poor electrical contact between the electrodes and the skin. This may be due to insufficient cleansing of the skin, or poorly soaking of the sponge (electrode) with salt solution.
For the first sessions, always start with 0.5mA, then increase to 1mA and 1.5mA. After a few sessions, when we find that our body tolerates tDCS well, we can use 2mA. Session length should never exceed 30 minutes; one session a day. The effects may appear after a few sessions, but may be short-lived. In order to consolidate the so-called Post-Stimulation Effect, several sessions should be used. Some sources say that about 30 sessions were needed for depression.
